Description:

Every active pharmaceutical ingredient (bulk drug) manufactured or imported in India shall bear
Quick Response code on its label at each level packaging that store data or information readable with
software application to facilitate tracking and tracing. The stored data or information shall include the
following minimum particulars, namely:—
(i) Unique product identification code,
(ii) Name of the API,
(iii) Brand name (if any),
(iv) Name and address of the manufacturer,
(v) Batch no.,
(vi) Batch size,
(vii) Date of manufacturing,
(viii) Date of expiry or retesting,
(ix) Serial shipping container code,
(x) Manufacturing license no. or import license no.
(xi) Special storage conditions required (if any).

All the details related to the drug as mentioned in the Description section will be displayed in a QR Code Dynamically in the form of text. Any QR Code Scanning application will first capture the URL from the QR Code and then visits the URL to display the details in the form of text. The text added to a Dynamic QR Code can be changed later if required by paying a nominal fee.

DO NOT USE A STATIC QR CODE TO DISPLAY YOUR DRUGS/MEDICINE DETAILS, BECAUSE:

IF YOU ADD ALL THE 11 POINTS MENTIONED ABOVE IN A STATIC QR CODE, THE AMOUNT OF DATA WILL BE HUGE AND QR CODE SIZE WILL BE VERY LARGE, AS A RESULT OF WHICH, YOU REQUIRE LARGE SPACE TO ACCOMODATE THE QR CODE ON YOUR PRODUCT PACKAGING. MEDICINAL PRODUCTS MOSTLY DO NOT HAVE LARGE SPACE TO ADD THE QR CODES. THE CODE WILL BE UN-SCANNABLE IN CASE THE PRINTED SIZE IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE SCANNER TO DETECT THE CODE. ALSO IN STATIC QR CODE, THE DETAILS CAN NOT BE CHANGED ONCE PRINTED.

HOWEVER, IN A DYNAMIC QR CODE AS PROVIDED BY QUICKBARCODE.COM, THE DETAILS ARE STORED ON A SERVER LEVEL SO THE SIZE OF THE QR CODE IS REALLY SMALL AND CAN BE EASILY PASTED ON THE PRODUCT PACKAGE. THE DETAILS CAN BE EDITED EVEN AFTER PRINTING ON THE PACKAGE.
